The present edition of Renukagita is a collection of thoughts of Renukacharya, one among the five Acharyas of Veerashaiva tradition. Sri Renukacharya rendered his thoughts to Sage Agastya and these thoughts were preserved in the tradition. These thoughts were summerised by Shivayogi Shivacharya, an eminent scholar of Veerashaiva tradition of 10th century, in his Siddhanta Shikhamani. The Siddhanta Shikhamani records the tradition of Veerashaiva and its rituals to be followed and explains 44 Angasthalas and 57 Lingasthalas. Dr. M. Sivakumara Swamy, former Professor of Sanskrit, Bangalore University, has collected a few Shlokas from Siddhanta Shikhamani and arranged them subject-wise. He has also rendered them into English with notes.
